The Fire College has partnered with the Schools of Public Health and Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) on a project to provide health and safety training to medical and emergency medical service personnel impacted by COVID-19. The project was funded through a supplement to AFC Workplace Safety Training Program’s cooperative agreement with the National Institute of Environmental Health Science (NIEHS) and brought virtual-reality based and on-demand training and webinars to nearly 1,300 people in 30 states during June and July of this year. The project is one of three highlighted in the NIEHS newsletter that can be found at https://factor.niehs.nih.gov/2020/9/community-impact/workers/index.htm.
